Gina Mowry McHugh; president and head designer established The Goldsmith in 1978 after completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at the State University of New York at New Paltz. Gina's love for metalsmithing began in high school and continued through college with various independent studies, including one with famed metalsmith Albert Paley. Following graduation she wasted no time to begin her daring venture, a retail and wholesale business, designing, manufacturing and selling gold and silver jewelry, flatware and holloware.

In the early years, Gina sold only her own work in the shop and established national accounts at influential trade shows allowing her work to be exhibited in galleries across the United States

Gina's background as a metalsmith has always given her a leading edge and a better understanding of what is important when purchasing or designing an amazing piece of jewelry. With this attention to superior quality and craftmanship her business has continued to steadily expand and grow to house the most incredible hand-selected collection of designer jewelry from around the world.

As a Gemologist, Gina has always continued to expand her diamond and stone knowledge through extensive training and daily hands-on experience of buying, selling, restoring, and creating jewlery.
